Polycystic Kidney Disease Animation
Audience: General Public
Medium: Zbrush, Keyshot, AfterEffects, Nanostudio
Purpose: To illustrate the myriad causes, concerns, and treatments available for sufferers of this ailment.
Step 1: Reference
I began by accumulating a number of reference images of polycystic kidneys (none of which I can show here for copyright reasons). Once I had those I moved on to sketching them out to get a sense of the variety of ways this disease can deform the human kidney.
Step 2: Ideation
I scripted out a short video detailing the symptoms, causes, and treatments of this disease. Then I scripted out a brief storyboard detailing how I might marry the images with the type.
Step 3: Initial Renders
I modeled the kidney in Zbrush, then exported to Keyshot for rendering of both video and still imagery.
Step 4: Rendering
Once that was done I took everything into AfterEffects to animate the images with the type, and lay in the audio. I rendered the video directly from AfterEffects.
